JOB SUMMARY
LMYF is looking for a Junior programme officer who will be responsible for providing programmatic and
technical support in the four strategic pillars.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer, the Junior Programme Officer’s duties
and responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with Coordinating, managing and overseeing the implementation of LMYF’s Programmes with
    specific focus to youth engagement and development;
  • Provide assistance in coordinating and be in dialogue with youth, youth organisations and Government
    institutions relating to youth development;
  • Assist in Monitoring, tracking and conducting relevant thematic research on youth development in
    matters ICT;
  • Assist in Generating quality programme reports;
  • Coordinating, documentation, publishing and disseminating youth related information;
  • Assist in developing proposals and concepts in line with emerging trends and opportunities;
  • Representing LYF in relevant meetings, working groups and coordination forums of direct relevance to
    youth engagements;

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION;

  • Candidates must hold a minimum of a diploma from a reputable University in Kenya in any of the following
    disciplines: IT, Entrepreneurship, Community Development, Sociology, Law, Political Science, International
    Relations or related field to the programme;
  • Undergraduate Degree or Post graduate Qualifications in a related field is an added advantage;
  • Demonstrate technical experience in the sectors of ICT and Social media;
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to youth programs and current youth issue;
  • Deep interest in socio-economic development of youth in Kenya and beyond;
  • Candidates must be between 18-35 years of age.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES;

  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to write various types of documents such as proposals and
    donor reports;
  • Strong research, communication, advocacy and networking skills;
  • Analytical thinking and decisive judgement;
  • Ability to work in a non-partisan manner, sensitivity to ethnic and cultural differences;
  • A team player able to demonstrate a constructive, cooperative and problem solving approach;

SPECIFIC DELIVERABLES:

  • A monthly work plan accompanied by monthly written reports
  • Minutes of meetings with any program stakeholders
  • Weekly social media work plan with targets and weekly status reports on achieved outcomes and results;
  • Weekly M & E reports with impact created and tangible outcomes.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Program development of ICT Strategic Pillar
  • Creating a database of LMYF Mentees and mentors with regular updating
  • Regularly updating LMYF’s website with current information and photos
  • Managing LMYF’s Social media accounts
  • Content development for each social media page
  • Three posts done daily in all platforms
  • Organising events for LMYF and provide cinematography during the events
  • Editing videos and photos of LMYF related materials for upload to the website and social media accounts.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • A competitive remuneration will be provided commensurate to the qualifications of the successful candidate.
  • The Junior Programme Officer will be based in Nairobi with regular duty travels to various regions and counties
    of operations.
  • There will be a Performance contract signed that is subject to appraisals semi-annually.
  • A three months notice or equivalent pay is a condition of breaking the performance contract.

LMYF’s founder is Lynette Mwende, a young Kenyan lady who is passionate and dedicated about youth empowerment, specifically through public policy advocacy. She has been influencing education reforms through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives that have impacted more than seven hundred youth countrywide.
